Privacy Policy
Last updated:
The short version: our calculators run in your browser, we do not sell your data, and we only collect what you choose to send us or what our hosting needs to keep the site secure.
1. Who we are
BestGolfHacks.com ("BestGolfHacks", "we", "us") is a website with free golf simulator planning tools, guides and paid build plans. It is owned and operated by the UK registered company named at the bottom of this page. For UK data protection law, that company is the controller of your personal data.
You can contact us about privacy at any time at [email protected].
2. What we collect
Information you send us
- Emails and contact messages: your name, email address and anything you write, including room measurements or photos you choose to share.
- Orders for build plans or care plans: your name, email address, billing country, what you bought and the details of your space or business that you give us so we can do the work.
Payments
Online payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. Stripe tells us your name, email, the amount paid and the last four digits of the card. Stripe's own use of your data is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: like almost every website, our web host and our security and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) record technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.
- Theme setting: if you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us and is not used for tracking.
What our calculators do with your numbers
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The measurements you enter are not sent to us or stored by us. If you use a share link, your inputs are placed in that link so the person you send it to sees the same result.
3. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Strictly necessary. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to protect the site from bots. Your browser also stores your cookie choice and your light or dark theme setting in local storage on your device. These do not need your consent.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand which pages and tools are used so we can improve them. When analytics is on, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID>, which normally last up to 2 years, and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or city), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We keep Google Analytics event and user data for 14 months.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, analytics is off until you choose "Accept All" in the cookie banner. Until then Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode with analytics storage denied, which means no analytics cookies are set on your device. The legal basis for analytics is your consent.
If you are anywhere else, analytics cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time by choosing "Essential Only" in the banner.
Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie Settings" link at the bottom of every page. Learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising. We do not show ads yet. If we add display advertising (such as Google AdSense), we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set.
4. Affiliate links
Some links to retailers are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie on its own website to record that you came from us, so we can earn a commission if you buy. We do not receive your name or payment details from the retailer. Their use of data is covered by their own privacy policies. Read more in our Affiliate Disclosure.
5. How we use your data and our legal reasons
- To reply to you and deliver what you ordered (performance of a contract, or steps you asked for before one).
- To run, secure and improve the website (our legitimate interests in a safe, working site).
- To keep financial and tax records (legal obligation).
- To send you occasional updates, only if you opt in (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
We do not use your data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with providers that help us run the business, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Our web hosting and email provider.
- Cloudflare, for security, DNS and content delivery.
- Stripe, for payments.
- Google, for website analytics (see section 3).
- Professional advisers such as accountants, where needed.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising.
7. International transfers
Our providers and our team may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. When that happens we rely on recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep it
- Contact emails: up to 24 months after our last conversation.
- Order, payment and tax records: 6 years, as required by UK law.
- Server and security logs: kept by our providers for a short period, usually no more than a few weeks.
9. Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your data;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to help first.
If you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California, you can ask to know, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
10. Children
This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us their data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, and only the people who need it can access the accounts that hold personal data. No website can be completely secure, so please do not email us card numbers or passwords.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
